Ariz. - The Arizona Medical Board paid tribute to an outgoing member at the Board‘s two-day meeting in Scottsdale last week. Becky Jordan completed her term and nearly nine years as Board member. Chairman Robert P. Goldfarb, M.D., presented her with a plaque and thanked her for her service.
Being one of four public members on the Medical Board is just the latest chapter in a career of public service. Ms. Jordan spent 20 years in the United States Air Force and retired in 1977 with the rank of Major. During her distinguished military career, she received the USAF Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the USAF Outstanding Unit Award with three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Service Stars, and the Meritorius Service Medal.
In 1992, she entered the political arena and was elected State Representative for District 16, a seat she held for two terms. While in the State Legislature, Ms. Jordan chaired the Natural Resources and Agriculture Committee.
Other honors include the University of Arizona Alumni Association Legion Distinguished Citizen Award and the American Legion Distinguished Legislator Award.
By statute, the Arizona Medical Board has four public members and eight physician members. All are appointed by the governor.
