MEDICAL BOARD SUSPENDS GILBERT DOCTOR’S LICENSE

Scottsdale, Ariz. -- The Arizona Medical Board summarily suspended the license of Dr. Grigory Sorokin of Gilbert, Arizona at an emergency meeting today. Sorokin, an internal medicine physician, was arrested yesterday on three counts of sexual conduct with a minor and one count of child molestation. The Board heard testimony from its investigators, a representative of the Gilbert police department and from Sorokin’s attorney, Paul Giancola before taking an emergency action to suspend the physician from practice. “The Board responded quickly and appropriately in light of the allegations brought against Dr. Sorokin,” said Executive Director Barry A. Cassidy, Ph.D., P.A.-C.

Dr. Sorokin is entitled to a formal evidentiary hearing before the Office of Administrative Hearings within 30 days.

The Arizona Medical Board is composed of eight physician members and four public members, including one licensed nurse. The Board is responsible for licensing and disciplining over 15,000 medical doctors in Arizona.
