Challenging position in a fast-paced, innovative environment at the Arizona State Board of Medical Examiners. Under the general direction of the Supervising Medical Investigator, will be responsible for the following:
- Assists investigators with the investigative process. Processes initial complaints made against physicians and/or physician assistants practicing medicine in the State of Arizona. Prepares initial case files for investigations. Performs complaint or investigative research, as directed, including contacting complainants by telephone to confirm allegations and assisting with in-person interviews.
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of medical, insurance or law enforcement investigative techniques and methods
- Ability to understand the relevance of facts, extract and utilize them from a variety of sources to establish a chain of evidence for use in an investigation
- Understanding of State Statutes and how they apply when reviewing a complaint
- Ability to review and evaluate complaints for initiating and developing an investigation case file
- Working knowledge of case report development and the ability to prepare clear, accurate and quality documentation
- Working knowledge of records management techniques and methods
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent interview skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Good organizational skills and the ability to meet competing changing priorities
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a team environment
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the data base querying
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least two years of criminal, insurance, medical or credentialing investigative experience
- An Associate degree in law enforcement, police science, criminal justice or other field related to area of assignment may substitute for six months of the required experience
- A Bachelor's degree in law enforcement, police science, criminal justice or other field related to area of assignment may substitute for one year of the required experience

Challenging position in a fast-paced, innovative, team environment within the Licensing Center of the Arizona Medical Board. Under the general direction of the Licensing Division Chief, the position is responsible for processing license applications received from Medical Doctors, who wish to practice medicine in Arizona. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assist applicants per telephone and in person
- Analyze, verify, interpret and track primary source documentation
- Track licensing files
- Interact with credentialing organizations, hospitals and insurance companies
- Gather statistical information
- Assist the team as necessary
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of physician statues, rules and regulations applicable to the practice of medicine and health care in Arizona
- Ability to review and analyze primary source documentation
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent telephone skill
- Excellent organizational skills, with attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment
Minimum Qualifications:
- A minimum of three years of multi-tasking office related experience
- Medical credentialing or licensing experience may substitute for up to two years of multi-tasking office related experience
- Experienced with Microsoft Windows, MS Office, database use and the Internet
